1. Beach and Water Sports
Swasey’s Beach is a sandy beach off the Green River that is shaded by big Cottonwood trees. Sit, swim, relax and watch the world float by. Literally. Or take advantage of the marina and boat ramp for a change of scenery and pace.
2. Camping
First come – first serve sites are available in a small campground off the beach. Fall asleep listening to the sounds of the Green River or the other campers…
3. Geological Features
Views from the beach are beautiful with the backdrop of the Desolation Canyon Wilderness Area.

Trailhead Directions
Follow Beach Rd for 4.5 miles from Hastings Rd in Green River to Swasey’s Beach. There are several places to park at and around Swasey’s Beach and Marina.
Rather than driving to Swasey’s Beach take your bike. This can be a great route for biking from Green River.
Hike Details
Hiking at Swasey’s Beach can be as long or as short as desired. Park at Swasey’s Beach and start exploring from there.
Views from the marina and higher up on the road provide sweeping views of the beach and surrounding Desolation Canyon Wilderness Area. For a slower pace, simply walk down to the beach to enjoy the Green River and sand.
Other popular activities include biking, boating, and kayak trips through the canyon.
Why is this hike easy?
It’s actually not necessary to hike at all to access the beach. From the parking area to the beach is a very short jaunt through sand to the water. Any longer hikes, bikes and walks are really just activities to add to a fun day and much of the road from Swasey’s Beach to Green River is relatively flat.
